THE 4th NC TURKISH FESTIVAL
| Divan Cultural Center will be hosting its 5th Annual Turkish Festival on Saturday 11-9pm and Sunday 12-8pm, April 17-18 2010 at NC State Fairground Exposition Center.
One of the premier events in the greater North Carolina area, Turkish Festival houses various cultural activities, entertainment for adults and kids. World famous Turkish Cuisine is at the center of the festival where attendees have the opportunity to enjoy wide variety of Turkish dishes.
4th Annual NC Turkish Festival of 2008 was a great success. Moving the venue to State Fairgrounds last year had at least tripled the number of participants. The visitors enjoyed a warm welcome from Turkish Folk Dances on stage, delicious Turkish food as well as a numerous exhibits of Turkish art, culture and folklore. Thanks to over one hundred volunteers working hard to serve and please about 3500 attendees, Exposition Center was filled with friendship and joy. Locals who are well known for their southern hospitality were delighted to experience the warm Turkish hospitality. |
NC Turkish Festival will have a broad content: Displays, artworks, craftworks, books, music, Turkish food, children's playground, Turkish folk dances. Throughout the event there will be performances on the stage. Visitors will observe, watch, read material, see movies, participate in hands-on activities and experience a unique tradition. Turkish Festival houses various cultural activities, entertainment for adults and kids. World famous Turkish Cuisine is at the center of the festival where attendees have the opportunity to enjoy wide variety of Turkish dishes.
We will be celebrating the rich heritage of Turkey. Divan promises an authentic Turkish weekend that is sure to please the eyes, ears and tongues of participants young and old.
KIDS: Activities and treats include storytelling, coloring, face painting and games as well as Turkish delight, special Turkish waffle treats, ice cream, popcorn, cotton candy and much more.
ADULTS: Enjoy live performances of Turkish folk dances, authentic Turkish music. Also on display will be Turkey and Divan Booths, as well as artistic demonstrations of water marbling, calligraphy, and illuminations. The experience of shopping for Turkish treasures such as hand-made ceramics and pottery, oriental rugs, throws, bags, decorative pillows, traditional jewelry, handicrafts is not to be missed.
EVERYONE: Enjoy the flavors of rich Ottoman Turkish cuisine. Sample gourmet food, including kabobs, Doner (literally “turning roast”), stuffed grape leaves, various pastries, vegetable and meat dishes, desserts, baklava, Turkish delight, apricots, hazelnuts, and figs just to name a few. Excite your taste buds with some popular Turkish culinary delights, have a slice of our unique ice cream or simply sip a cup of tasty Turkish coffee.
